Overview
Draug began as a scary monster sketch conceived by Joelle. She then created a backstory for him in the form of a short comic four pages long, which was the introduction for then-unnamed Dechaerrim. He then was added as a major villain in an abandoned story project of hers, then lastly, finally became a role-play character. Personality Draug is cruel and hateful, wanting nothing more than to kill all life in the universe, and frustrated at his inability to do so. He is equally enraged by always being enslaved to someone or another and never having the reins loosened enough to let him partake in proper murder. His only moments of sheer joy are when his current master lets him kill something. He doesn't delight in the pain itself and never wastes time on torture; he gets sick pleasure of the very squickiness of extreme gory violence and watching the light leave someone's eyes. On occasion he gives in to other baser instincts, mating merrily with other minor demons in his free time, but most likely has kinky tastes (probably involving snuff) that no one wants to be a part of. Appearance Draug is a horrible combination of the worst qualities of dog and man. Mostly canine, he is thin and sickly white, with naught but a few hairs here or there, his skin patchy and bald except his whiskers. His head is too large, and very wrinkly; his ears and nose are crusted with mucus and covered in moles and liver spots. His mouth is full of misshapen, jagged teeth, his tongue is lumpy, long and prehensile, and he is always drooling excessively. Long strands of fresh mucus drip from his mouth always. His jawbone itself extends much too far back, beyond the nape of his neck. As for his body, it is vaguely humanoid but he still walks on all fours though no form of walking is comfortable for him. His forepaws are bony long-fingered hands with claws like straight needles, and his hind legs resemble a human's but with the stretched proportions of a dog. He has a long, tapered tail. His eyes are blank white, with no pupils or irises, and lined with black like mascara. Powers Draug in a former life was a wizard but has largely forgotten his magical powers, favoring instead brunt melee violence. Should he find the presence of mind to focus his lost arcane energies he would be very powerful indeed. Pre-role-play history Draug was originally a young human wizard who was too curious for his own good. One day he made the grievous mistake of attempting to summon demons. Dechaerrim heard the call, and took the wizard and the man's familiar (a greyhound dog) down to the demon world of Ocera. Dech combined their two souls and bodies into a single demonic form, stole their original names, and renamed them the entity Draug. Then, Draug had an additional head on his tail, which was where the mind of the greyhound was, and under the dog's exclusive control. The both of them were driven insane and evil by the act and by being infused with abyssal essence. From that day forth, Draug was a loyal servant to his new master. Role-play history Draug made his first IC appearance to Keket and Necro, but no one thought more of him. He then appeared again, to Jayden, and managed to figure out that she had a friend named Gloria. Cunningly, he said that Dech was holding Gloria captive and was planning on killing her. Jayden believed the lie, and followed Draug through a one-way portal to Ocera, where Draug let Dechaerrim in one the deception. Dech continued the lie, saying he would kill Gloria immediately if Jayden did not agree to have sex with him. However, Dech's ex-minion Yaheva appeared, spoiled the facade, and helped Jayden escape back onto the material plane. Since then, Draug has harbored an unsettling amount of hate towards Jayden for ruining what could have been a perfect platter of brownie points with his master. Draug was later given the distinct honors of messing with Jayden's friends. He killed all but one Sapphiron soldier and framed Dmitri (from Sapphiron as well) for the murders by saying Dmitri had summoned Draug as a demonic servant. Shortly, though, Dech's rival Gim sent a minion of his own named Jack. Draug and Jack battled briefly, and Jack ended up grinding Draug's corpse into bits and pieces in a giant blender, and Gim trapped the two released souls in a stuffed toy dog, giving it as a gift to Jayden to torture at her liesure. Gloria, learning of this, destroyed the plushie and freed their souls to the afterlife as separate entities at last. It was not to last, though, for Gim then remade the plushie and trapped Draug in it once again, but only his one soul (but still demonic). He gave it to Dech as a gift this time, to act as a summoning object to call forth Draug. Some time later, a necromancer named Jaccob happened upon Draug's remains, and attempted to animate them as a skeletal minion; instead, it became a zombie, and the dog familiar's soul inhabited it, retaining the wizard-familiar link with Draug as they had before. It broke free of the necromancer's control, fought off Gloria as she tried to destroy it, and fled directly in Draug's direction to be reunited with its master. However, that scenario was never finished, and it's assumed the zombie simply got lost in the forest and eventually fell to pieces. Current Status Unknown, but Draug's probably alive somewhere on the Material Plane. Family Draug has no family whatsoever. |
