Overview

Lauryious was initially a long-term 2nd Edition D&D campaign character over a 6 year long middle/high school game traversing across most every available setting. Heavily influenced by D&D terminology and logic and the adventurer mindset for her personality. After a several year break, D&D game was restarted where the character could make cameos and is also being played in a larp setting.

Personality

Laurious is primarily straightforward, open-minded, and bookish. These traits normally lead her into more trouble due to her curiosity and sympathizing with perceived villains. She would make a decent mediator for all the scenarios she has witnessed firsthand except for the many chips in her psyche and general lack of knowledge of "common" socializing (she often salutes everyone, and is overly polite). Her faith is also strong in several gods and in nature (though they may be far away), and in her friends.

Appearance

Lauryious is a woman standing at 5' (152.4 cm) tall, with a muscular and heavily scarred body. She has shoulder-length green hair normally kept in a ponytail, and eyes the same shade, with a black stripe vertically tattooed over each eye. She generally wears a green tunic and pants with 6 belt pouches, black gloves, and a black swashbuckler hat with red trim.

Powers

Lauryious is trained to use swords, daggers, and especially shields, and has vast medical and surgical training aided by her healing magic and herbalism skills. She has some psionic abilities (mainly telepathy), some arcane magic (particularly abjuration), and her dryad side lends her an especial connection with plants and animals. She can speak to plants, and can substain herself purely on water and sunlight like a plant. She is weak to cold iron and has a phobia of fire. She is a seasoned adventurer and well-prepared for most situations thanks to a Heward's Handy Haversack, a magical bag, containing a large array of supplies. She can also play the lute. It should be noted that she shares a body with two other souls, Smiter and Ruby.

Pre-role-play history

(Much of this is actually part of role-play as well, in her various tabletop and LARP adventures, but will be treated as backstory for the purpose of this site.) Lauryious was born a slave in the land of Unther, a transmutation offspring between her dryad mother and elven father. She escaped through her wits and luck and was further raised by a barbarian tribe as a shaman. When she would not mate with the chief's son, she was forcibly removed and wandered south until she met up with her first adventuring group. From there she traveled the land solving problems and found her calling in life. Merely defeating local bandits at first to eventually routing out corrupt soldiers and evil cults.

Their route eventually led to a cursed blade by the name of Smiter, who gradually turned Lauryious over to his side and the two committed acts of great evil until they were stopped by the destruction of the blade. Their fused souls were transferred into the blade that struck theirs. Eventually they were restored to a human form and worked to continue adventuring. Eventually their group earned recognition from a group of time wizards after they were displaced in time, changing the future. In exchange for their help, Lauryious was given back her original body and they worked to solve the error in time that was made to prevent the end of history. After many trials and errors, the group found themselves disjointed from time and were forced to either end their lives in the homeworld and start anew or forget most of their adventures. She chose to leave, to keep the memory of her first love and child.

Thus she was hired by the time wizards, specifically Telemazar, and worked with other agents to fix time wherever it was needed. She worked at this for a good 600 years before attempting to retire and seek out a more stable career, namely in chronicling her travels and knowledge to help with her old boss' paperwork. She attempted to settle down with a local cleric, but again her world was turned upside down and he divorced her and died giving power to his deity's avatar. Wandering and weary, it was in the land of the Wyrd when she gained another cursed blade named Barroc and worked to purify it to redeem some of her wrongs from Smiter. While on Athas, she also encountered an intelligent gem named Ruby Heart who forcibly controlled Lauryious to destroy the gem's opposite. Following their mutual destruction during the fight, Ruby's mind stayed with the other three minds to share the same body. Lauryious regained control and was able to purify Barroc, releasing at least his mind. This sadly came at the sacrifice of her third love who was summarily disintegrated. Barely able to have enough time to gather up her books and mind, she was sent to Lakeside.

Role-play history

The first couple she met in Lakeside was Ruth and Samuel, Ruth being especially welcoming, and she was given money to setup a lab in a section of the Healers Hall. Before she could get settled in, there was a mystery of a missing healer named Tanis, and Lauryious ended up following Rahim and a guard to rescue her from a fleshcrafter. Though the three rescuers were also captured initially, Rahim and Lauryious broke out and rescued the captive creations and Tanis, returning to town badly wounded to recuperate.

Life was pleasant afterwards as she got to know the town until the peace was disturbed largely by a werewolf Hannah who bit the barman Richard and Lauryious. She formed a curative for herself but it sadly did not work on Richard.

Alongside this, she met Violet and became quick friends, eventually performing at her wedding reception. Unfortunately a jilted love interest of Vi's, Vex, sought revenge and was attacking and killing his own friends in town. She assisted Dechaerrim in finding the missing residents, but Vex was still at large to shortly reappear with Harziyax's help and attack Violet. At the same time, Ruth was swapped with an alternate timeline version. Once Vex was captured, Lauryious' body via Smiter was forced to attack and kill him in jail, earning her some time in there herself. She was released after her mental situation was explained thankfully, plus Samuel was distracted by the loss of his wife. After the situation died down and Dech finishing off Vex, she resumed her post at the Healer's Hall, only to be nabbed for a side mission via Telemazar again.

A few weeks later she returned, desert weary and, as Gloria noticed, pregnant. Lauryious did not remember most of her almost two years away, being held physically and mentally captive by a crazed wizard, but reasons the child was his doing. Lakeside was at this point under siege from a massive undead outbreak in the land, killing plants and infecting the wildlife. Angry, she works with the others to fight and figure out a way to stop the plague and deal with her incoming future.
