Overview
Elves in mythology go way, way back, where the definition of an elf could be the same as a faerie, leprechaun, or goblin. Ever since J.R.R. Tolkein's "Lord of the Rings", however, they basically are all slender, fair-skinned people otherwise exactly like humans, but with pointy ears. They tend to live a very long time, aging very slowly or not at all. They usually have cities built in forests, even above the ground floor, in the trees themselves. They usually are close to nature, a bit haughty, slightly supernatural, and good with a bow and arrow. Whether the ears are just a little pointy at the top or whether they stick out sideways like daggers are up to an individual's discretion.
Sun Elves
Like the standard, but with tanner skin. They live in the desert and prefer hot, dry climates.
Wood Elves
Generally, no different at all from other elves. They just live in the trees more.
High Elves
Sometimes used as the generic term for all non-subrace elves in general.
