Description
Szorkian demons are the (technically non-native) demons now inhabiting the world Szork. They are not demons in the abyssal, unholy sense, but closer to the Japanese concept of a 'bakemono' or 'youkai': animal spirits embodying various natural elements.
Each Szorkian demon is born with two definite aspects: animal, and element. The animal aspect can be any species of animal, including mythological ones, but only if the 'type' of animal is part of their genes in the first place. For example, a cheetah demon and an eagle demon could produce tiger, lion, housecat, raven, owl, robin, etc. demons, but not a fish, lizard, wolf, or ferret demon.
The element aspect can be one of four (fire, water, earth, or psychic), and is also hereditary, however any Szorkian demon can train to learn any of the others, or absorb the powers from the spirit of another Szorkian to instantly master it.
Each Szorkian demon will resemble a human mixed with their animal part, often having the ears, tail, markings, scales, fur, wings, etc. of the animal part. They can also transform into a particularly large version of their animal form and retain all of their elemental powers.
Secondary aspects include the symbol/map of Szork (a paw print with each toe diamond-shaped) somewhere on their body as if tattooed, and some miscellaneous strange marking (geometric shapes on the face, scale patterns, etc).
They have their own language, Szorkian, which no one has ever translated. It is unknown if this is the language of the original inhabitants of the planet, or of the demons that conquered it.
