Overview
Zarador originated as a demonic evil overlord for a very early fantasy story of Joelle's. She tested him out in role-play to get a feel for his personality, and he ended up becoming such a sympathetic character he was no longer demon, evil, though he was still an Emperor. Personality Zarador is a stoic, cold, quiet man, who is rarely perturbed or phased by anything. He has a compliant acceptance with all good and bad aspects of life, and makes sure that he is always composed and dignified. He is highly intelligent and proud of it, extremely studious, and prefers quiet seclusion in which to read, than the rowdy chaos of a tavern or party. He is slightly bureaucratic, following the law down to the fine print, and expects the same from everyone else. Beneath this rather emotionless exterior is a lot of heart for the few people very close to him; namely, his immediate family only. He does not open up about himself, his feelings, or his past, and is too proud to ever admit weakness or hurt. Appearance Zarador is an eternally young man, trapped at age 18 first by a misapplied spell, then by vampirism (technically he is about 450 years old). He stands short at 5'2'', of average build. Physically, he isn't very strong. He is half-Japanese, and has short black hair, and somewhat narrow, extremely dark blue eyes. He generally dresses in regal wear, either just formal wear, or fine-tailored wizard robes, usually in the colors black, white, and sometimes blue. Powers Zarador used to be a Sanguian shapeshifter, but was stripped of all Sanguian powers when he was turned into a vampire by Keket because being undead went against the rules of Goddess Avkwi, who first gave him his powers. Besides that, he is highly talented in magic. He first manifested these abilities in toddlerhood, and they have only grown with age. Physically, he's frail, and he has no weapons training. Pre-role-play history Zarador was born in the town of Kinina, in the country of Wherrem. He was an only child. His father was an immigrant (potentially descended from actual Japanese people who found themselves in the fantasy world), and his mother was native, but genetically mute and so still an outcast. The family as a whole was poor, living in a shack owned by the Tuketus, the richest family in town who owned most of it. Lathan Tuketu made most of his time tormenting and beating up Zarador (which caused him to attempt suicide as a young teen). When he was a young child, Sierra Lillieth and her mother immigrated down to Kinina from the country of Tauris. He and Sierra grew up together, and eventually fell in love as teenagers and lost their virginity to each other. Sierra became pregnant and had his child at age 16, and they named their daughter Kedda. Sometime during adulthood, Zarador, Sierra, Lathan, and most of the other young adults with any magical power in town, undertook a magical experiment to become elemental shapeshifters. Zarador was the first to discover how to do it, by asking for Goddess Avkwi's direct intervention. She made him a blood elemental, and a shapeshifter. Soon, the rest of the mages followed suit, becoming the first Sanguian, Ethereal (Lathan), Umbrian (Sierra), Terrous, Phloxxian, and Hydrous. The Sanguians and Ethereals bitterly feuded with each other, casting various self-altering spells in an attempt to weaken each other. One such spell froze Zarador's age at year 18. At some point before the transformations, the enmity between them all grew when Lathan raped Sierra. When he was then murdered, it was assumed to have been her or Zarador's doing (in fact being Zarador's father who poisoned Lathan). Then, Sierra was murdered by one of Lathan's comrades on the day that Zarador planned to propose marriage to her. Distraught, he took Kedda and left town, travelling across the nation aimlessly and only stopping where he could increase his magical ability. Kedda grew up, had children of her own, grew old, and died -- as did they all, for many generations while Zarador never aged. Eventually, he ended up as the Emperor of Wherrem, and led the country for a very long time. At some point, a Delhinian woman -- a race of people created by Avkwi herself -- came to him and arranged him to marry her daughter, Phinelli, so that Avkwi's chosen race could someday lead Wherrem. Zarador agreed, and Phinelli later had his daughter, Nisha. Phinelli's mind was unstable, and she eventually had a panic attack and disappeared. A decade later, he began a relationship with an angel, who became pregnant...and then died as one of the first casualties of an epic Wherrem disaster known simply as "The Curse". Zarador barely escaped the country with his life, believing their unborn child to be dead, but one of Avkwi's soul reapers managed to rescue the unborn fetus, indefinitely seal it, and later used it to magically impregnate a completely unrelated woman. The child grew up never knowing her parents. Nisha found her way back to Wherrem and became Empress in Zarador's stead, until her murder at evil god Tivik's hands. Zarador as yet has never returned home. Role-play history Zarador first made few friends due to his introverted nature, but eventually fell in love with, and married, Princess Epona, and they became King and Queen of her nation together. She bore him twins Hana and Trevor (Hana later having three daughters herself; Hoshi, Keiko, and a third that died young). However, the relationship was ruined when Nathan revived Sierra and reintroduced the two of them. Zarador started an affair with her, and was divorced and exiled by Epona, never allowed to see his children again. He married Sierra and moved in with her, and she had their second child. Sometime during his travels, he ended up cursed to a child's age again, losing most of his powers. He met and travelled with Nara (a fellow mage) and Keket (A vampiress). Keket eventually betrayed them, feeding from them both and turning Zarador into a vampire. Even when the curse on his age reversed (reverting him back into an adult), the vampirism remained. Because Avkwi detests all types of undead, his Sanguian powers were permanently revoked. He finally adapted to it, though, and Sierra agreed to let him turn her so that neither of them would grow old without the other. The idyllic life was harshly shattered when a comrade of Nara's, Gemis, raped Zarador. Nara, and some of their other acquaintances, took Gemis' side, and forced Zarador to apologize. He has not spoken to any of them since, and started drinking heavily after the event (having hardly touched alcohol prior). Current Status Zarador lives with Sierra and their child. Family Zarador's parents were Yusuke and Nara (not the same as Nara Shidon). His children are/were Kedda, Nisha, Allison, Hana, Trevor, and the newest child with Sierra (whose name is not known). His known descendants are Tira, Hoshi, and Keiko. |
